Ah, another successful and wonderful year here at Red T! Although we’re still busy churning out new material as we speak, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on and celebrate all of the things our team has accomplished over the past 12 months.
We moved! Along with our sister company, Enable Education, we are now located at Country Heritage Park in Milton, Ontario. The views from our windows include a century-old barn and the escarpment, and we’ve also got state-of-the-art recording facilities at hand, so expect some nifty new audio and video pieces from us in 2019!
We won awards! Our print/eBook “Zoom In, Zoom Out” was given no less than four awards, including accolades from Reader Views, Nautilus, IPPY and International Book Awards. “Zoom” was a collaborative effort by a number or our team members, and a labour of love, and we couldn’t be prouder to have it be so well-received.
We took on Marshall McLuhan’s statement “The medium is the message” in our latest book, “Hey, I’m a Story!” Once again, we partnered with a talented artist and photographer, and set about creating this book as a team. It’s got cool retro tech, an irresistibly cute narrator, and a fun romp through the history of storytelling. The interactive eBook of it is just about to drop, so stay tuned!
We set up a teacher/parent marketplace! To support big thinkers in bringing philosophy into the classroom, and into homes, we put up a whole bunch of free downloadable lesson plans, activities and resources. Anyone looking to try something new and exciting in the new year is welcome to dig in
We gave our older eBooks a makeover! Shiny new versions of “According to Phil” and “Let the Thinking Begin” are already available for both iOS and Android devices. A whole bunch more are set to roll out of our workshop this week, just in in time for holiday reading. Stock up and keep your little thinker’s brain humming while they’re off!
We guest posted and blogged! We appeared in some pretty fantastic magazines and publications this year, like Education Canada, Green Teacher, Canadian Teacher, and Filocreatividad.
We chatted with some pretty amazing podcasters! This included The Good News Only, voiceED, and Momtellectual.
We partnered up! We’re not the only ones out there aiming to encourage big questions from little thinkers (whew!), and this year, we buddied up with herVolution, Project Why and The Philosophy Foundation. Yup, we keep pretty cool company.
Not too shabby for an indie kids’ media company on a mission, right? Well, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet. We’re already planning big things for 2019, and we’re looking forward to another year of awesome, including:
- Audio books! Watch for our titles to appear on Audible.
- Even more lesson plans added to our Teacher/Parent Marketplace in new subject areas too.
- New picture book titles, both in print and interactive eBook format.
- New additions to our YouTube channel.
As always, we are grateful to all the kids who read our books, play our games and watch our videos, but also to the big people who support them in their growth as thinkers. May your holidays be happy, healthy and safe, and may the coming year be full of new and amazing questions.
