2021: We Did It!

sophia-01

A good chunk of this past year was spent still stuck in bizzaro world, sometimes hunkered down and working remotely, other times trying to safely navigate “the outside” again. It’s been weird, to say the least, but as far as philosophy is concerned, big questions don’t stop during a pandemic, and the show must go on.

So we kept going, and you know what, even in the midst of unprecedented weirdness, we still accomplished a lot this year. We’re grateful for the opportunities we’ve had, and proud of what we put out into the world.

Here are some highlights:

  • We turned 10! That’s right, in April we celebrated a decade of creating philosophical materials for kids. It’s still the best job ever.
  • We continued to with families in our online sessions, and discussed everything from butterflies, to outer space, to infinity.
  • We were thrilled to be featured in podcasts by the Milton Public Library, and The Black Sheep Community.
  • We loaded up our Wall of Wonder learning page with 12 fantastic big questions, along with videos, printable resources, and lots of interactive activities.
  • We had a float in our first ever Santa Clause parade, and participated in an outdoor holiday festival.
  • We joined the TikTok community (Red T Kids Media) and started churning out videos with tips and tricks for doing philosophy with kids.
  • Our 2020 release “Mildred Builds A World” was awarded an Independent Press Award, and more recently, became our first book to be translated into French!

  • We gave two of our older interactive ebooks, “Zoom In, Zoom Out” and “Tinker Thinkers” a bit of an upgrade, and we’re so happy to see them out in the world again.
  • We released our newest title “Benny’s Symphony”, in both print format and as an interactive ebookBenny Cover

Whatever 2021 has doled out, we’ve still managed to have fun, connect with little thinkers, and learn lots of new things. As is always the case in late December, we’ve got all kinds of nifty stuff planned for the new year as well.

To everyone who’s been part of this, whether it’s been as a reader, a player, a parent, a teacher, or a member of our creative team, a heartfelt thank you. We can’t wait to keep the conversation going in 2022!

Happy holidays everyone! Be safe, be well, and keep the big questions coming!
