Ever have a kid ask you “Why aren’t there more women doing that job?” Yeah, we were wondering about that too, so we sat down with Monique Belair, Deputy Fire Chief for Oakville, Ontario. Monique is a champion of women in non-traditional career paths, and generously shared some of her own experiences.
Monique and Ruby, our kid interviewer, talked about questions like:
- Are men and women really all that different?
- Do these differences really matter in a job like firefighting?
- What would the world be like if everyone got the same opportunities?
